Buzzed

Sad was the day when we said goodbye to all that long fluffy baby hair.
He looks like such a big kid now. I already miss the mohawk.

chip-chop

My Mom and I went yesterday to use part of our gift certificates for a new salon to get our hair-did. (We still get to go for massages, facials, and something else.)

I don't know about you, but I always feel like a new person when I get my hair chopped off. And I guess this time I wanted to feel like a really new person, because she chopped almost all of it off. This is the shortest I've ever had my hair. And I LOVE the feel of it. Just right for this hot hot humid weather.

new do

Number 8 on my One Hundred Things list was that I need a haircut.

She cut off 12 inches. It's going to Locks of Love.
I feel so much better now!

What a weekend!

For fun, here's our view now of across the lake. Aahh... Fall. :)

Elijah before the HAIRCUT...

And after...

See how he stands like such a big boy?

Here he is with Grandpa, helping recover the toys he put inside the sub woofer. (I mentioned how he likes to put things away.) They ended up finding: a lamb, a rooster, 2 blocks, a race car, 2 balls, and several clothes pins.

Yesterday the combine came to harvest soy beans across the street from my parents' house. Elijah was enthralled!

Being true country folk, mom and I recovered this adorable baby John Deere tractor from the neighbor's trash pile for Elijah. He is already getting the hang of mowing the grass.

Then we picked tomatoes. Elijah couldn't even wait to get inside to wash his... it was gone in less than 30 seconds!

After all that, he sat in this swing for over 2 hours. Not even kidding. My dad had to bring him in when it was almost dark.

And here's a little clip of him walking. I hope this works...

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for...

Elijah took his first steps!
Yesterday actually, while my mom was watching him. I was at work - so I missed them.
But, alas, he has graciously done it again for me. Just 4 at a time or so. But they are indeed big boy steps. Oh, my little rascal is getting too big for his britches! [sniffs]

I am such a proud momma.

As the story goes... He was doing his usual walk around and around and around my mom's padded coffee table. He decided he wanted something on another table, so off he went. And by the time he realized what he had done it was too late!

He's quite good at free standing now too. So when I hold his hands, then let go, he stands there and claps for himself. This is quite the accomplishment, you know. And every once in a while, he'll take a few little steps forward. Mostly he likes to walk sideways - like a crab. This is what he's used to when walking along walls, tables, etc. So it comes more naturally that way.

Tonight he got yet another haircut. This time my dad absolutely lost his mind and cut it WAY too short for my liking. He used the biggest guard on the clippers, but its still so short in the front. Last time we "buzzed" the back and sides, and used scissors on the front. He looks like a kid... I mean, a big ol', grown up KID. Daggoneit! There are pictures and I'm sure I'll post some soon.

Right now my husband is NOT playing video games [gasp], and wants to hang out with me [double gasp!] and have a mini-date night. What is in the air? Other than frost and stinking winter, that is. So, off to cuddle on the couch I go! Yippee. :)
