by Kindle-light at night

As we're nearing his third birthday, I'm becoming more and more nostalgic where this little boy is concerned. My Zeke. My baby. What a pleasant, kind-hearted, generous, funny, smart, and strong guy he's turning out to be.  Not to mention that I think he's just plain gorgeous. I mean, look at those beautiful sparkling eyes, those lips, and lashes, and deep dimples. Be still my heart. I love him to the moon and back.  What a wonderful blessing it is to be his Mommy and get to enjoy him every day.

On The Stairs

So, yesterday morning they boys were caught playing in the stairwell. This is not allowed in our house because the stairs are open on one side and they could be hurt if they fell over the edge. But when I saw how cute and loving they were being with each other, in stead of punishment for disobeying the rule, I told them to hold it right there while I grabbed my camera. The light was so pretty in their eyes, they were in good moods, being nice to each other, and relatively confined. So it was a perfect photo-op.  Sometimes the stars just align. But not often. :)

In other news, we are over a week into Spring and this dang weather still thinks its Mid-January. Enough already!! WE WANT TO PLAY OUTSIDE! Two days ago it snowed all morning and afternoon. Today its's 38 degrees. This just will not do for the very end of March. No sir.

Ordinary Moments: say cheese

The following is a very accurate representation of two things: A three-year-old who picks out his own wardrobe, and what happens when you ask him to stand in front of the Christmas tree and smile. [sigh]

I think you'll have to click on the image to see it larger.

P.S. I really really love Elijah so much! Really!

Ordinary Moments: up a tree

Does this little tree-climbing...
bug-finding...
half naked...
adventurous boy...
reminds anyone of...

a certain jung1e b00k character?

ordinary moments: filthy

Grandma's house is officially the most fun place in Elijah's world.

So fun, in fact, that he won't let a little thing like a snotty nose stop him from playing. This is what he looked like when I found him digging in his dirt pile. Snot apparently works as a rather effective adhesive for dirt.

ordinary moments: you've been hosed

(click the photo to enlarge... I love the look on his face!)

Isn't playing in the water hose the epitome of summer for a kid?

Ordinary Moments: Morning in Mommy's bed

I don't know if I could love any two humans more than these.

Ordinary Moments: like a weed

So at his weight check this afternoon Zeke was an impressive 10 pounds, 4 ounces!!!
Just look at the chub on this kid. He's growing like a weed!

Ordinary Moments: riveting

After a long fun day of swimming his heart out, Elijah relaxes over a riveting episode of Lawrence Welk and this woman's rousing rendition of "America the Beautiful".

He was, in fact, so enthralled, that he adamantly protested when Manny tried to change the channel.

Ordinary Moments: Tomato Season Begins

This week marked the long-awaited beginning of tomato season from our garden.

Around our house it could not come soon enough.

Elijah took it upon himself to pick the first fruit.

And he did manage to share a small bite of this one with me. :)

In his words "it was goo-ood."

The End.

Ordinary Moments: Memorial Day 2010

My little man going fishing with his Grandpa for the first time.

He even got a new Lightning McQueen fishing pole for the occasion!
I think my Dad enjoyed it as much as Elijah.

And who can have Memorial Day weekend without a watermelon?
When I picked it up at the store Elijah said "Mom, that watermelon is bigger than your belly!" Now that's my boy! :)
(34.5 weeks pregnant here)

ordinary moments: summer do

Elijah got his summer do today.
My mom buzzed his hair.
And he knows he looks good. Just ask him.

Ordinary Moments: strawberry patch

Pictures courtesy of my friend Stephanie.

My friend Stephanie was in town this week from Boston so we met up with her and her niece Kierra at Maye's strawberry patch for some berry picking fun. It was his first time and Elijah had a blast despite the tremendous heat. I'm sure he ate more than we actually took home. And his poor shirt paid a dear price. But it was worth it! He's been talking about our adventure ever since! I'm sure we'll do this again next year.
