First Dips
The temperature only reached the low 80's on Saturday, but my parents didn't let a little thing like that stop them from taking a dip in their BRAND NEW POOL! The water was a nippy 65 degrees so they didn't stay long.
It's not completely finished yet. Today the guys are coming out one last time to hook up the pump and filter (you can tell in the video that the water is murky), treat the water, and install the retractable cover.
Now... bring on the hot Summer days! I'm ready to SWIM!

Pool Construction: Day 14 (continued) & 15
After the liner was in, Elijah got to be the first to put water in the pool.
It took 24 hours to fill up.
After about 8 hours we could wait no longer...
The 3 of us got in to give it a try.
The water was icy cold and Ezekiel was mad because he wanted to play with the hose.
Day 15 (last day)
Mom and Grandma worked hard all morning to plant a lovely flower bed near the pool.
Dad was the first to brave the freezing water. He claimed it "wasn't bad".
Yeah right! It was 65 degrees!
He did cannon-balls and a back-flop. Mom jumped in for a second too.
Then it poured and poured rain. Not our preferred way to spend the first official pool day. But whatever.

Pool Construction: Day 14
Well, today is a BIG day!
The liner is in now.
It's going to take a while to fill it up and be ready to swim, but boy oh boy, we're getting close.

Pool Construction: Day 13
Today my Grandma came over to enjoy the construction festivities too.
They finished the concrete around the pool and patio.
Elijah made his little hand prints in it, with much persuasion on our parts (some might call it forceful coercion, since he's OCD about getting his hands dirty).
Apparently, while I was at work Elijah got to help drive the trackhoe.
Then he had plenty of work to do with his Tonka trucks.
{p.s. In case you wonder what happened on day 12, it wasn't much to take pictures of, so we skipped that one.}

Pool Construction: Day 11
June 21st
Another load of gravel was delivered and distributed around the perimeter.
Half of the patio was poured and more framing was put in place for tomorrow's delivery of more cement.
That long gap in the cement will later house the automatic retractable cover.
Also, Elijah requested that I take his picture in front of the Bobcat. So I did.

Pool Construction: Day 10
June 20th
The concrete slab for the pump was completed, more cement was poured behind the buddy seat area, and drainage pipes were installed.
Also a friend from church came with a big tractor and hauled the basketball goal away to be used by the youth in our church's parking lot.
Elijah got to ride with him in it! He even got to steer, use the levers, and honk the horn! Big stuff!

Pool Construction: Day 7 & 8
June 17th & 18th
Pipes were laid out in the trench.
They put gravel around the outside of the walls and over the area that will be the patio.
Framing was built to get ready for the concrete slab and patio to be poured.
Day 8 was a rain day so no progress was made.
But my Elijah didn't let that stop him from having a good time. He gave the pool a trial splash while the men were away.
The rains were so heavy the night before that more than 2 feet of muddy water accumulated.

So I last left off talking about Construction day 3. I haven't updated about it in a while because VBS was last week and after that I felt like I needed to sleep for 12 days to make up for the exhaustion. Remind me next year not to agree to work the nursery, please.
Days 4 & 5 were rainy so they guys mainly worked on little stuff like plumbing and electrical. I don't have pictures of that stuff.
Day 6 was a big day!
They poured cement on the ledge at the bottom of the walls and footers on the outside of the frame.
Elijah was thrilled that got to pull the levers on the cement mixer truck.
They excavated for the slab which will hold the pump and heater (yes, pool heater!), and made a trench for a drainage pipe.
A dump truck brought a big load of gravel for later use.
Lastly, the "buddy seat" was delivered and installed. (I have a feeling it's going to be my favorite part!) As soon as they had it secured Elijah said "Mom, will you be my buddy and sit in the buddy seat with me?" Oh man, I can't wait!
