Learning to Swim

Yesterday Elijah was terrified to take his floatie off in the pool...

Today, not so much.

It started out with my Mom convincing him to take it off and let her hold him.

Then she showed him that he could touch in the shallow end by the steps.

Then he learned to go into the deeper water and push off with his feet to get his face up and take a breath.  And then, before he realized what was happening, he was swimming from the steps, out to her and back again!

It took a while to discover that he could put his face under and hold his breath, but once he did he lost all fear and had a ball!

Now he's jumping off the side, doing cannonballs, and swimming just like a big kid!

Naturally, little brother wants to do it too!  He's totally fearless so we really have to keep an eye on that one.

I'm so proud of my Elijah. He's growing up so quickly these days.
