bee-bee

When Elijah was itty bitty - like 2 weeks old or something- his Great-Aunt Marcia sent him a sweet gift. (She's thoughtful like that.)

At the time he couldn't care less about it. But as the months passed this particular gift proved to be one of the best he's ever gotten. And depending upon how a given day is going, it can actually rescue my sanity and satisfy my son all at the same time.

I had delusions during his infancy that I would never allow him to become overly attached to any one item. I would purposefully swap out his blankets every few days to avoid it... I still do that. But about 4 months ago he started showing an inclination to one; a sweet tiny blue blanket. He lovingly named it (rather I'm pretty sure he just can't say the word "blanket").

Meet Bee-Bee.

I believe that at one time Bee-Bee was pale blue and very fluffy. Today it's a faded shade of almost-blue, crusty on the corners, smells like wet dog, and matted down to a near unrecognizable state of its once luxurious sheen.

Bee-Bee is an excellent sleeping companion: soft, satiny, and small enough to wad up and stuff under one's cheek.

It can soothe even the most fussy of toddlers with a simple nuzzle into its familiar softness.

But Bee-Bee spends most of its time these days serving as a teether. (Elijah is working on his two-year molars.)

Either that, or it tastes good. But I cannot imagine.
Because besides being really fun to shove into the back of trucks...

Bee-Bee gets a lot of floor time...

among other things.

It is safe to say that Elijah and Bee-Bee are BFF - together through thick and thin.

So, thanks Great-Aunt Marcia. Bee-Bee will go down in history.

This is so cute!! I love the third picture. Mia took to Lulu, a pink ladybug stuffed animal. It's funny which ones they choose.

And even at 30 years old *gasp* I still sleep with my "night night" a white blanket that is the 3rd replica of one I had when I was little. :)
