in a pinch

Remember that fabulous new screen door my parents got me for my birthday? Well, I do love it! It's so nice to have. And Elijah loves to stand there and look outside, especially when the cats are out there. He stands there and "talks" to anything he sees.

But unfortunately Tuesday Elijah and the screen door had a small misunderstanding. He pushed it open and somehow got his poor finger stuck in the side with the hinges. I was only a few steps away, but when I heard that blood chilling scream I could not get to him fast enough! I knew right away what the problem was, but I had to stop and think for a second before I could free his finger. I didn't want to push the door in the wrong direction and pinch him more. So it took me like 5 seconds to get him out of there. Poor baby boy! It hurt so bad. And the finger looked terrible! It was a really deep pinch and looked like the little finger had been bent in half. I really did think it was broken. Thank goodness all he ended up having was a bruise and small cut. I felt like the worst mommy ever that I forgot to latch the door to keep him from opening it. I learned my lesson though.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I like yours too, mind if I follow it!? It amazes me how every mom I talk to or read about with little boys goes through the same things I do with mine! My son is 20 months, born Feb, 9 07, maybe we can share advice! Oh and as for the door thing you might want to get a high up latch, as soon as he gets a few more inches on him he will figure outi in nothing flat how to pop that sucker open and be on his way outside! Thank God I was in the kitchen when a certain sneaky little boy tryed to do that to me! The ycan be quite stealthy little things!
