words and more words

My boy is trying to say things now. It's awesome!

Yesterday my mom was playing with him and Millie (her dog) and repeating the word "dog" over and over while making the sign for "dog". After a while he tried to mimic her hand movement and the sound "da". She said he did it several times so she knows he was making the connection.

Also, he was playing with a ball with Manny and they were doing the same thing... saying the word "ball", making the sign, and showing the object repeatedly. Then Elijah said "ba".

Then... he thought about crawling- but only for a second. He was on his tummy - his toy barn in front of him and Manny behind him giving him something to push off of. The toy was just barely outside his reach so he scooted his butt up in the air and kind of propped himself up on his knees to push forward while wiggling his front half back and forth from side to side. It looks more like an army crawl but he's making a little forward motion, so that's good. We'll just keep working with him. He's a little over 10 months old now so he needs to start crawling soon. I'm not worried because I have heard of babies who don't really crawl until 11 months... so we have some time.

And one more story for today. I went to drop Elijah off at my Mom's house this morning and Dad was in the driveway when we got there. Elijah saw him and waved and said "ba ba" and kicked his little chubby legs while my Dad waived hello to him through the car window. So cute!!

p.s. My house is still a gigantic wreck! I'm hoping to get it in some order this afternoon and tomorrow. Plus I need to get yard work done. We have a birthday party for Hannah on Saturday afternoon and a Father's Day shindig at my parent's house for the extended family on Sunday. So my weekend will be jammed-packed with activity.
