a wintery weekend

My parents, brother, and sister drove up from Evansville on Friday. Yay! Now it feels like Christmas!

We have cooked and cooked and cooked. (Well, my mom has done most of it.) I love being around my family. It makes me feel like I'm not so far from home. It makes us feel like we're not quite so alone up here - just for a little while anyway.

Mom and I ventured out into the madness that was Greenwood and the mall on Saturday morning. Why do we do this to ourselves? We picked up the pictures from Penny's, which turned out super cute!! Then shopped for a few gifts for Manny. I had been unsure of what to give Elijah for his first Christmas since he's too little to even care. I wanted to give him something as a keep-sake type gift, or maybe something meaningful, but I couldn't find anything that seemed right. Honestly, I wanted Manny to make him something in his woodshop like maybe a toybox or a shelf, or something. Manny said he didn't have time. (He seemed to have time last year to make a coffee table for his friend's wife, thank you very much.) No, I'm not mad at him. I know he's busy taking care of Elijah during the day and all that. I'm just saying...

Anyway, I found a nice little Baby's First Bible with 2 CDs that come with it. So, that seemed like a nice thing to give him. Plus I got a First Christmas ornament picture frame that says 2007.

The rest of the weekend was not much more than cooking, watching movies, eating, watching football, playing with Elijah, baking, visiting with Libby, and eating some more. Oh, the holidays!

YES, I'm working today - Christmas Eve. Gotta love the insurance industry. We never close... because people never stop wrecking their cars. Dang it. Maybe they'll let us leave early today.

Oh yeah, and it's FREEZING cold outside. Windy and wintery with a few flurries.
