Elijah is funny now. And he knows it. I know you might say a 4 month old can't possibly have a sense of humor yet, but I would disagree. Here's what he has started doing...
When he's nursing, after he gets the initial edge of hunger off, he will look up at me out of the corner of his eye, smile, and pull his mouth away, causing milk to squirt annoyingly all over his face and me. Then he'll laugh. Then he'll go back to nursing for a second, look up at me and do the whole thing over again. After a few times of doing that he will pretend to go back to nursing but he won't actually put his mouth on me. In stead, he'll put his mouth near me and make a sucky face (like a fish) while still keeping eye contact and a big grin. Then when he pulls away from me he's laughing. Then he'll get kind of embarrassed and cover his face. It really is a game for him. Of course I get so tickled by it that I'm cracking up, which makes him crack up and after that point there is no longer any eating going on. What I think is so remarkable is that he knows he's doing something funny. I think he's going to be silly like his Daddy. Dinner time at our house has become a real hoot.
