He has been fighting a cold for a few days which was no big deal - just a runny nose, sneezing, and little cough. I was not too concerned because he didn't act like he felt bad.
BUT... yesterday and last night he felt terrible! He couldn't breath out of his nose so he couldn't sleep. I nursed him and put him down at 7:30 pm - he was up again before 8:00 and didn't go back to sleep until midnight. He literally screamed his face off for 4 hours without stopping. He felt so bad and I couldn't do anything for him. I hate that! I gave him ibuprofen and used all my tricks - walked around the house, rocked, sang, read, and talked to him, let him "cry it out" (which failed miserably), let him roll around on the floor, and played with toys. Around 11:45 we went to swing outside on the porch (in the dark) and listen to the rain. That actually seemed to relax him - maybe the sound of the rain on the roof or the thunder. But anyway he finally dozed off and slept until 3:30 am. Manny got up with him that time but I still could hear him cry so I couldn't sleep. I guess he went back to sleep at 4:30 and slept again until 6:00. He woke up with a pretty bad sounding croupy cough. He seemed to feel a little better this morning after I gave him a steamy shower.
I hope we don't have to take him to the Dr. because my new health insurance has a waiting period until August 1st. Just pray he gets better soon!
Needless to say we all had a tough night and are VERY tired today.

Dear Sarah,
Please tell your baby that I bought him a little present in Costa Rica. Hopefully that will help him feel better.
Regards and best wishes,
