the scoop

OK people. Here's the deal...

All is well - or so we think. My realtor called yesterday to tell me the buyers have accepted the repairs, signed off on all the releases, and are definitely moving toward closing. Then today she e-mailed me that the title company is working on the final touches before closing on Friday May 30th. We're scheduled to sign the papers at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of this very good news, yesterday afternoon I made the decision to give my boss (Dennis) my two weeks notice. When I told him, he was really sad and even got kind of teary eyed. He told me I've been one of the best employees he's ever had and that he'll never be able to find a replacement since I'm one-of-a-kind. :) Awe. It's nice to feel appreciated. Of course, being a guy, he also dropped a choice "F" bomb, which was promptly followed by a sincere apology. He and the office manager (Jean) made it abundantly clear that if I change my mind at any time between now and then they will be more than happy to let me stay. In fact, when he announced it to my unit, Dennis said the mean side of him is rooting that the house deal falls through so I can't go. But the nice side of him is hoping it all works out because he knows this is what I really want and will be best for my family. Jean said, "I know you've hit the button, so to speak, but we all make mistakes. And you always have the option to hit the escape key if you need to." How sweet.

Along with that announcement here's a crazy story.
So, after I chatted with Dennis he called my unit together to tell the rest of my co-workers. We have all worked together about 3 years, and I've known them all for over 5 so it was kind of sad in a way. We were all standing around in a circle (about 12 of us) and he gestured to me and said "Sarah will be leaving us to go back home to Evansville.... (blah blah blah)" One particularly ghetto funk lady who we call the crack wh*re said "Who's Sarah?".... dead silence. Everyone stared at me - then her - then me again with disbelief. I wanted to say "I'm the girl you yell at twice a day you freaking moron!" But I didn't. I tried to laugh it off. Oh. My. Goodness.

Today Sarah and I had our last lunch at Culver's. I'm sad about leaving her. :(
