I feel like we got a lot accomplished this weekend. My parents and sister came up to visit us and helped Manny and me get the house in shape for selling (or staying here - whatever the case may be). They brought up Elijah's crib and took the guest bed home with them. So we painted the office beige and made it the nursery. And moved the office stuff into the purple guest room. I really like the set-up. Elijah's room turned out very nice. It's beige and red. Tonight he's spending his first night in the crib so it's kind of sad for me. I'm used to him being in our room and being able to check on him any time I want. There's something nice about knowing he's just a few steps away and that I can hear any time he moves or sighs. Plus, I like to watch him sleep sometimes. My boy is growing up so fast! {sniff sniff}
So last night he slept in his crib for the first time. I am such a cry baby. I had serious separation anxiety letting him sleep in there. I got up like a zillion times to check on him. Truthfully, I think he's much more comfortable in the crib because he was still snoozing like a rock when I got him up to nurse this morning. Usually he's kind of stirring at 6:30 when I go get him. Maybe that's because it's more quiet in his room too. I think this will be a good change for him. It's just all happening too fast.
Also this weekend we (or I should say my parents) painted both bathrooms a light cream color. The guest bathroom was a bright neon blue which I think might be a turn-off to people looking at the house. And our bathroom was still the flat white paint that came with the house. They did the little entry hallway too. So it all looks nice and cleaned up now.
Mom and Dad also brought up their brown couch for us so we can get rid of our old ones. They were fine except for the holes the cats scratched out of the sides and back of them. This new one looks much nicer and it's a good neutral color so it's more appealing. Anyway, I really like the way the house turned out.
Oh Yeah, and Elijah LOVES the plums!! I think they've taken carrot's place for his favorite. So far I've given him apples, carrots, peas, plums, banana, avacado, sweet potato, a taste of lemon (just to see if he'd make a face), and of course cereal. He's doing great with eating real food. I love the little bird mouth. :)
Another favorite thing for my boy is reading books with me. He is just 6 months old, but he has a really long attention span. He will sit on my lap and read a whole book without ever getting squirmy or tired of it. I know he likes them when he pats the pages with his little chubby hands while I'm pointing out the animals or whatever. It's so cute. Sometimes he tried to mimick my voice in his baby sing-song way.
My mom brought up the book "Sookey the Saggy Baggy Elephant" that I used to love when I was a kid. She got him some little animals to go with it: the elephant, tiger, and parrot. When she was here she read it to him and he was enthralled. His eyes would go all wide when she did the voices. What sweetness!!
I sure do love that little guy!!
On another note, Manny broke his pinky toe yesterday. And I mean he REALLY broke it. It was flopping and really deformed looking. But I called the Dr. and they told me they would just wrap it to the other toe. There's nothing else they could do unless the bone is poking out so there's no point in coming in. yuck! I have such a weak stomach for stuff like that.
