40 weeks today!! And I'm READY.

Well, today is the big day... or is it? I honestly never thought I'd get to the due date and not have a baby already. But apparently God has other things in mind for this kid. I'm so ready to get things going. This morning when I woke up Manny sang to me "happy due date to you..." (to the tune of Happy Birthday). He's so funny!

I know people mean well, but I'm getting tired of hearing "Haven't you had that baby yet?". It makes me want to say "Actually yes I have. But I like working here so much I thought I'd come in today anyway. And nevermind my still very swollen abdomen." HERE'S YOUR SIGN.

I've considered making a poster for my desk that says:
Yes, today is the due date.
Yes I know my belly is huge.
NO I haven't had the baby yet.
I feel fine. Thank you.
I go to the doctor today.
Have a nice day.
I'm not grumpy. really. hehe.

Progress worth mentioning!
This afternoon we went to (what I hope to be) my last O.B. appointment. And AT LAST there is progress!! I can't tell you how happy I was to hear her say "you're at least 80% effaced, 3 cm dilated, and baby's still at -2 station". Woohoo! She asked if I'd been feeling any contractions and I told her only every once in a while I feel like little cramps, but that's only a few times a day. And she said "well you're having one now" and she pointed out how tight my belly was and how we could see Elijah's body parts. Honestly what I felt at that moment was like doing a crunch, just tightening, but it didn't hurt at all. I felt so silly because that's been happening all day and I didn't realize what was going on. At the end of the apointment I had another one, so she told me she thinks I'm in early labor. I told her I just assumed contractions hurt which is why I thought nothing of it. She said normally people say they do, but later in labor they will definitely feel more uncomfortable. She also stripped the membranes, which hopefully will bring on some more intense contractions to move things along. She told me she'd place money on me having this baby in less than 3 days based on the my current progress. I hope he comes before midnight tomorrow so he can still be a July baby. Needless to say, we're both pretty excited now. Manny took me to dinner at Olive Garden to celebrate and have that date we meant to have last weekend. In other good news, we have another showing for our house tomorrow. yay.
